The Birthday Tea Party!

When Hazel said that she'd like a little tea party for her birthday, I couldn't be more happy, since I love a good tea party!

She invited her closest little buddies, (Ella, Elsie, Layla, Sophie and Alexa), and giggled the afternoon away while eating scrumptious finger foods, playing Tea Party Bingo, decorating tea cups, playing games, opening presents, and eating her delicious cake (from Whole Foods).

She had the best day!

(And one of my favorite parts was when her friends sang Happy Birthday to Hazel in Chinese!)

What a cute bunch!!

6 years old!

I cannot believe Hazel is 6 years old!!  It makes me super sad to see another year go by, but I couldn't be more grateful to have such a healthy, happy girl in our lives!

- She is nearly done with Kindergarten, and I cannot believe how smart she has gotten!  I was hesitant to put her into Chinese Immersion Kindergarten, but she has loved it, and has thrived in it.  She now says that she doesn't have an English brain anymore; only a Chinese one. ;)
(She has especially loved her teachers, Mrs. Byers & Zeng Laoshi.  We've been lucky!)

- She can read and write so well, both in English and Chinese, but she gets super embarrassed and shy to share much of her Chinese skills with family or friends.

- She wants to be an artist when she grows up.  She practices drawing and coloring for HOURS every single day.  I love seeing her creations, and wish I could frame them all.

- Some days she says that she also wants to be a singer, and a mommy of course.

- She loves Aden (a boy in her class whom I've never even met).  She plans on marrying him.

- She loves to give hugs to her friends.  Especially the boy ones it seems..

- She sings all day, and has a great range and ability to hit notes and tricky intervals.  Makes her voice teacher momma extra proud!  My favorite is when she uses her vibrato.

- She can't remember lyrics too well, but is especially creative with her own.

- She is very thoughtful and considerate of others.  She never makes fun of others, and looks out for those that don't have friends or are sad. (I couldn't be more proud).

- But she likes to win at games.

- She has taken gymnastics for a few months, and is loving it.  She has rhythm, and confidence, but we could work on the flexibility and muscle strength. ;)

- Her favorite things are Shopkins, My Little Ponies, Princesses, Watermelon, Strawberries, Ice cream, coloring and playing with friends.

- Her best friends are Ella, Sophie, Layla, Elsie and Pearl.  Oh, and my sister Rachelle. ;)

- She is the best helper when it comes to her little brother.  She usually watches him for 1 hour everyday while mommy cleans, cooks or teaches lessons!

- She is a great eater!  She especially loves Mexican Food, as long as it isn't too spicy.

- She always eats her vegetables, even sauerkraut! (The only thing she is repulsed to eat are tomatoes).

- She has lost 3 teeth, (two front bottoms, and 1 front top soon after these pics were taken).

- She wishes she could see the tooth fairy.

- She likes days to be special.  BUT that doesn't require much; a 'special' play-date, a 'special' lunch, a 'special' activity is all that's needed. :)

- She bruises easily, and is starting to get freckles on her nose.

- She's brave until she sees blood.

- Her favorite color is purple.

- She can't wait to live in Heaven again when she's 100.

- We call her a cheeky monkey, well, because she's a cheeky one.

- She doesn't like dogs.  She does like kittens and bunnies though.

- She has traveled to 14 countries, even though she can't remember much...

- Born in Texas, lived in England for 3 years, and Utah for 1 1/2, she says she's sad to leave when she's 7.  Luckily she is so great with meeting people, so I think she'll definitely be able to handle all the sad moves that will take place nearly every 3 years.  #militarylife

We cherish every day with our princess, from your singing first thing in the morning, to our cuddles every night.  Gosh, we love our sweet Hazel girl.

Happy Birthday Sunshine!

Music Life

I've been loving being apart of the Vintage Vixens.  If I could sing jazz every day of my life, that would be the dream!  But for now, we're preparing for and looking forward to our first big performance at Summerfest in Logan (on June 18th), where we will take the stage for 75 minutes!  Can't wait!

And in-between being a wife, mom, health food blogger, photographer and Vintage Vixens...I'm somehow managing to squeeze in some time to be apart of another musical group, Dahlia Row.

(Dahlia is a flower that symbolizes a message of enduring grace.  It's a symbol of inner strength, creativity and standing strong in sacred values).

All of our songs will be uplifting and have positive messages.

Anyhow, It was tons of fun to be back in the recording studio, but the whole music video shenanigans was super uncomfortable for me...Hope it'll get better, because we're going to put out a new video every 1 to 2 months!

(Over 7 thousand views on our first video within 1 week of posting it, and even a feature in the Deseret News and Utah Valley Magazine!  Totally shocked about it all, but very excited).

Milo's Birthday Party

We had a small little family birthday party for Milo, and it was perfect.  He was shocked and overjoyed by the truck, car and train decor, and couldn't believe how exciting it was to eat a chocolate cupcake, get sung to, AND open presents.

He has been singing "Birthday, Cha Cha Cha,"  ever since. :)

Grandma Gayle made Milo his very own Thomas book!!

We love you Milo!  Happy birthday!
