Vienna, Austria (Day Two)

On our second day of our adventures, we took the train to Schonbrunn Palace.  It was a beautiful palace and location, with a great Christmas market.  We also had the most delicious food and hot chocolate there, followed by an Apfelstrudel demonstration, which was so fun.  This was my first time trying Apfelstrudel, and it was very delicious!
Our final destination of the day was attending the Wiener Christkindlmarkt.  Johnny got his bratwurst, and so that's what was most important. :)

What a great day!  Still more excitement to come.

Vienna, Austria (Day One)

We are determined to do as much traveling as possible before baby Foster arrives in 4 more months.  So for December we thought we'd branch out from our German Christmas market tradition, and see how the markets were in Vienna, Budapest, and Bratislava!

We planned a fantastic four day get-away with the Gardners (a.k.a Hazel's other family), and kicked things off bright and early Wednesday morning with a 4:00 am departure! (Not doing that again).

We took a flight to Bratislava, rented a sweet nine-seater van, and drove to Vienna, where we stayed in a fantastically located apartment.

After a quick nap, we walked the streets of Vienna where we experienced a life changing moment.  Cronuts!!  Delicious crescent/donuts smothered in vanilla sauce.  Um, amazing!  I also loved the street performers.  Such talent!

Anyway, enough with the rambles.  Picture time.

Lots more coming folks, so stay tuned!

Austria (Day Two; Part Two)

Our final stop was to first see the gazebo where some popular scenes were filmed in the Sound of Music.  The Gazebo has been relocated, and so we were in a different spot from the movie (but there was a fantastic playground nearby that Hazel went nuts over, so I guess it was ok).  I was also really hoping that Johnny could've guided me as I leaped from bench to bench, but we weren't allowed inside.  (So I just had to imagine that event taking place).

Next we visited the Abbey of Mondsee where Maria and Captain Von Trapp were married.  This is officially the cutest, and coolest church I've ever been to .  All cute and yellow, with an adorable gray and white chevron print flooring all over outside.  Adorable!

And we had to of course stop by the Hard Rock Cafe in Munich to purchase a collectors shot glass for Johnny before we departed.

Fun fun trip!

 And that's a wrap.
