Our weekend

Saturday we enjoyed attending a church activity to celebrate Pioneer day.  Hazel wasn't so sure about participating in the potato sack race, but she did enjoy making her very own homemade butter.

Johnny surprisingly won the candy guessing game, which now means that we have a large amount of candy here to tempt me, and I don't completely like that.

Then later that night we enjoyed a night out in Cambridge for a coworker's farewell.  We ate at the delicious Teri-Yaki, while being entertained by some karaoke classics.

Sunday, Hazel looked oh so sweet and innocent while wearing a new pretty hair style.  (In England, this hair-do would be called a "french plait.")

Then after church we enjoyed some sunshine, while Hazel loved looking through a peek hole to spy on the neighbor's dog, and getting airplane rides from daddy.

Other news:

- Hazel now says, "I love you mommy," and it completely melts me into mush.

- And can you believe we've lived in England for 1 whole year already?!

A party worth remembering.

Johnny and I so luckily (insert sarcasm here) got asked to organize the ward Christmas party this year.  We surprisingly had a good time planning it, and had a great turn out.  We even sang Christmas carols so loudly that Father Christmas joined our festivities.  Hazel also enjoyed the attention, and staying up passed her bedtime.

Hope you're all having a good party or two this holiday season.

Our Sunday

We went to our actual ward and church building that we will be attending. Location is much better than the last, and we're the only ward in this building and so it's really nice. This ward however is much different than the other that we visited. This one is very small, and a mix of British folk, Americans, and military. Not too many children, but it seems like a really nice place to be. When changing Hazel in the (very English styled) mother's lounge, I wasn't too fond of the sign that said, "Do not throw nappies (diapers) in the garbage, please take them home with you." Everyone was probably wondering why I smelled like poo. It was a bad one too.

Anyhow, crazy story: Back in San Antonio when Johnny got put in the single's branch presidency, he replaced Don Morris. Well That particular man and his wife were sitting in front of us in our new ward. Weird. They've invited us over for dinner on Wednesday, and so we're looking forward to that.

On the drive to church I was delighted to see these little pig houses. Maybe we should get a pet pig for Hazel.

And we finally found the U.K. Walmart. Very exciting.

p.s. I drove for the first time today.

A little of this, and a little of that

We went to church today. We're not quite sure what ward we'll be in, but there's a good chance that it'll be the one we visited. It's mostly American/Military, and so nothing was out of the ordinary, but we liked it. The Bishop was extra nice.

I feel like I'm in a story book fairy tale when driving through the streets of England. Both sides of the road are almost always full of lush greenery. You can rarely see what's on the other side. It's really so amazing, and I wish that this picture showed you even the slightest of how incredible it is.

We've been on the house hunt, which is fun, hard, exciting, and a big struggle. Often if the house is way sweet on the outside, it's crummy and small on the inside. If it looks awful and boring on the outside, it's usually pretty nice on the inside. And if you want land or space then Johnny will have a longer commute. If you are super crowded, then it'll be a breeze of a drive. We still aren't sure what we want.

Hazel's been an absolute gem throughout all of this. I was telling Johnny how I've also enjoyed our temporary living facilities, because Hazel can go wild and get into whatever she wants and I barely have to watch her. Right after saying this, I turn around to find her in the drawer of the entertainment center. I guess I'll have to watch her more closely afterall.
