Burgh Castle is not exactly a castle, but rather a Roman Fort. This fort was constructed to hold cavalry as a defense against Saxon raids up the rivers of the east and south coasts of southern Britain.
My favorite part was walking around the cute church nearby, and seeing the old graveyard (I can't get enough of old churches and cemeteries; the history, the charm, the moss...)
It was a very wet and chilly day, but a beautiful one.
