Cornwall; (Part One)

We are trying to squeeze in as much as possible of this beautiful country before we leave in August.  For this past weekend's get-a-way, we headed to Cornwall to celebrate the 4th of July, Johnny's birthday, and one last hoorah (tear) with our BF's, the Gardners.  (It was also a lot of fun having Matt's mom there with us.  She kept the girls' hair looking extra cute too).

Unfortunately the trip didn't start off too well.  We planned to drive part of the way our first night once Johnny got home from work, but sadly there was a a big wreck that completely stalled traffic for hours. Sleepy kids were not too happy, nor was this sleepy mom.

After our short night of sleep, we hit the road, and landed at our first stop; Tintagel Castle.  This castle is mostly just medieval ruins, located on the peninsula of Tintagel Island.  Absolutely beautiful!

Sadly the strong winds and rain were so bad, that it made it extra tough to take pictures, or climb the slippery/steep stairs (especially while holding a toddler's hand, and umbrella).

But it was a stunning site (including Merlin's Cave), and I'm happy we were able to go there even under the circumstances.  The highlight for the girls was the bumpy, Landrover taxi service down the hill.

Much more coming.
