Yep, that's right, Hazel's super sick. Not much fun around here.

She doesn't have much energy to play.

And here I am...

8 months old

Well another month has already gone by, and I can't wait to tell you what I've been up to.

- I'm a pretty happy little girl, but I don't like to smile all that often for strangers.

- My favorite word is "Bah-bah"

-I'm finally taking better naps most of the time. I even went to sleep all by myself a few times to give my mom a break.

- I get kind of shy when people talk to me, and I tip my head down.

- I like to try and wave to my favorite people, but I don't know how to open and close my hands yet while doing it.

- I sometimes give my mommy and daddy kisses.

- I'm not too fond of my car seat anymore. I'd much rather be held, or be able to explore on my own.

- My favorite toy is the rubber band that's always around mommy's wrist. (It's just so fun and stretchy).

- I love to play the piano.

-I'm not crawling yet, but I'm oh so close. I can rock back and forth on my hands and knees, but my knees just don't want to cooperate.

- I shake and jut my jaw forward when I get excited.

- I get most excited when I watch pocoyo. Even watching the same episode over and over again. (I'm shaking just thinking about it).

- I have three teeth, and I think they're pretty neat.

- I LOVE to play with lightswitches.

- I like to lead and sing the hymns at church. (I think I'm even the loudest singer there).

- Oh and my hair's starting to grow!

Bird Watching and some fingernail scratching

Today Hazel and I enjoyed the nice weather by sitting on the back porch and watching the birds fly by.

Hazel scratches anything that her cute little hands touch, and she loved the new textures that she discovered today.

(I was secretly hoping that the cement would file her sharp little nails for me).

It was fun while it lasted.

Reflection

A new food, a new reaction

So after the pea ordeal, I thought we'd give sweet potato a try. I really don't plan on documenting every single thing that Hazel eats, but we have yet another unique reaction that I found just too funny to pass on by. I call it the "blink-n-eat."

Oh Hazel

Hazel's forcing me to chill-ax about my "clean-freak" obsession. She can really make a cute little mess very quickly, and lets remember how she can't even crawl yet. Good thing she's cute, 'cause I let her make as big of a mess as she wants,

(even though it might make me twitch a little).

We've tested out a couple of shows and her current favorite is Curious George. She also gets giggly when she watches Jungle Junction, and Pocoyo. So now she has a babysitter... ;)

Hazel has been doing some funny things these days. This first clip is of her most recent trick, licking the floor.

While feeding her yesterday Hazel was trying really hard to cry. I wasn't buying it...

I felt like a really bad parent when feeding her peas for the first time and got this response.

A day at the zoo

Johnny had the day off on Monday, and so we ventured to the zoo.

Some of Hazel's favorite things from the outing were:

1. Her zipper on her coat

2. The fur inside her coat

3. The birds flying everywhere (and thank you for not pooping on me this time)

4. The fish

5. The goat

6. The sky

A brand new year, a brand new treat

This cute lil' stinker rang in the new year by finally getting to eat some real food. She had a hard time containing her excitement!

Seaworld Adventures...again

That's right, yet another outing to Sea World. What can I say, we like that place, and we're teaching Hazel the importance of Sea World festivities. We went to go see the Sesame Street Christmas show, but Hazel was more interested in the bench in front of us.

(And Hazel's sporting a bruise that the coffee table gave her. And she doesn't even crawl or walk yet...)

This funnel cake has always been calling our name, but we never responded until this day. It was pretty yummy, but please don't advertise that you put fresh strawberries on top!
