Birthday celebrations - part one

I spotted this farm off of the carriageway long ago, and knew that it was a place we must take Hazel.  We finally had an excuse to go, and it was a lot of fun.  The weather was shockingly hot that day (so we didn't last as long as anticipated), but we enjoyed the sparse crowd and toddler-perfect activities.  Hazel could've stayed on the carousel for hours.

Enjoy this picture overload.

Happy Birthday to me!

Hey everybody, it's me, Hazel.  My mom hasn't let me take over her blog since my last birthday, and so I thought that I needed to share my thoughts now that I'm a big girl.

This last year has flown by.  I can't believe I've learned how to run, talk, and do so many other neat things since last May.

- I'm obsessed with shoes, Peppa Pig, and balls.

- I'm a little bit afraid of the rain, but I love singing songs about the rain.

- My favorite songs are Itsy Bitsy Spider, The Wheels on The Bus, and The Wiseman and The Foolish Man.

- I usually only use one or two words together.  Oh, but I guess big poo bum is three words.

- I love the word "lo lo."  I use it when I'm referring to a binky, pillow, color, blanket, stroller, and balloon.  I just think it's easier to use the same word for all those things.

- My mom likes to give me singing lessons, and says that I'm able to match a handful of pitches and sounds.

- Oh, and here's me saying/showing how old I am.

- My daddy sometimes lets me drive his new car.  I could stay in there for hours.

- I think I'm a daddy's girl.

- I wish every hour was snack time.

- When my mom is driving, I will shout, "MOMMA" so that she'll look at me through the mirror.  Then I show her my tricks, such as one or two fingers up my nose, squishing my cheeks, and other clever things I can think of in the moment.

- I love giving my mommy and daddy kisses.  I kiss their legs, arms, cheeks, toes, or anywhere really 'cause they're my favorite.

- I'm doing better at sharing.  It's just so hard sometimes.

Well, that's about it, now off to eat some birthday cupcakes!

XOXO ~ Hazel

p.s. I went to Old Macdonald's Farm today for my birthday.  Hopefully my mom will post some pictures soon.

Our Sunday

We've had beautiful weather here the last few days.  Thank goodness, because the last two weeks of constant rain was certainly starting to affect my mood.

After church today we had a nice dinner with friends, while enjoying the fresh air and sunshine.  Hazel was thrilled to ride a scooter for the first time, play with friends, and bounce on the trampoline for hours.

Hope your Sunday was happy too.

Johnny's second trip to the island

All last week Johnny was away for work at the Azores islands.  Work shmerk is what I say from the look of these pictures.  He enjoyed incredible views, hikes, food, and sunshine.  A highlight of the trip was watching the bulls run through the streets.  Maybe one of these times Hazel and I will join in on the excitement.  I'm glad he had fun, but I'm oh so glad he's home.

(Hazel repeatedly said, "daddy's gone," all week.  Then would slump her shoulders, frown and moan.  I think I did the same thing.)

So spoiled

I've moaned for a very long time about how lousy my blender is and how it doesn't even blend up anything; such as bananas...

So Johnny surprised me yesterday by getting me a Blendtec!  Gosh what a good man he is.
I whipped up some hummus for Hazel and I today, and boy did that girl love it.  She kept saying, "mo, mo."

Thanks dear husband for making your wife pretty darn happy.  And Hazel too.
