A Weekend in New York!

The great thing about military life is living in different places around the world, and meeting awesome people.  The bad thing is, moving away from those awesome people...

Because of this, we hadn't seen our favorite Gardners in over a year, and we were needing a grand reunion.  Even better, a grand, child-less reunion in New York City!  Thanks to my wonderful mom and sis for watching our kiddos so that we could have this incredible weekend get-away! (It was the first time leaving Milo over night, so that was a little hard on me, yet much needed).

Thursday:

Friday:

We woke up extra early in hopes to get stand-by tickets for the Jimmy Fallon show.  They had about 20 tickets to give out, and we were 40th in line.... Super bummed we couldn't go to our favorite show...but at least we had more time to explore this exciting city.

Another benefit of military life is getting free into museums, such as the 9-11 Museum.  It was a very difficult one to see, but a very good one.  So heartbreaking...

When in New York, you eat pizza! (I had to be educated on that one)..

Life changing moment:  Popbar.  Look it up next time you're in the city.

China Town.

Next favorite moment, (which most often involves food), was finding my favorite Italian gelato; GROM!  Lemon ginger, with extra dark chocolate = divine!

Saturday:

Central Park.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Another life changing moment:  Eating a Mediterranean salad at Irving Farm.  Mmmm.

So so happy I was able to meet up briefly with my favorite Mary-Jane.  Love you.

Our whole trip planning first came about after discovering that my favorite singer, Alfie Boe, was starring in my favorite show, Les Miserables!  While in London, Alfie was also playing Jean Valjean in Les Mis, but unfortunately was sick the night we turned up to the show...

I thought for sure I would get to see him this go around, but sadly, the understudy was performing yet again, and I was honestly so depressed about it.  Luckily the show was still overall really great, but I'll forever be sad about Alfie letting me down once again...

We love you Matt and Jeane, and are SO happy we got to have a grand reunion in New York City!  I'm dying to know when and where we'll go next!

xoxo
